Qualifying electrical storage battery installations are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027. Your quote should show the customer price clearly; zero-rating is tax treatment, not an installer-funded discount.
What changed
The temporary zero rate covers qualifying electrical storage batteries, including certain standalone installations. The measure has an announced end date, so quotes and content should be checked again before relying on it after March 2027.
How to check the quote
Ask whether every quoted line is included in the zero-rated supply and request the final price you will actually pay. Compare installers using that final price rather than a pre-tax headline from one and a post-tax number from another.
- Final customer price
- VAT rate shown
- Battery and inverter model
- Installation and electrical work
- Any finance charges shown separately
VAT is not payback
A lower tax-inclusive price improves economics, but the battery must still be sized against solar surplus, household load and export opportunity cost.
