There is no single national answer. Search by installation address, then verify the program directly with the responsible state agency, utility or tribal authority before counting it in your quote.
Start with the installation address
Eligibility can depend on state, utility territory, equipment, income, installation date, grid-services enrollment and available funding. A ZIP code narrows the search but does not prove eligibility.
- Identify the serving electric utility
- Search DSIRE and the utility website
- Open the current program terms
- Check funding and application status
- Confirm whether pre-approval is required
- Save written evidence with the quote
Separate incentive types
Upfront rebates, tax credits, performance payments, financing and virtual-power-plant payments are different. They affect cash flow, risk and payback differently.
Only subtract a confirmed upfront benefit from the installed price. Model uncertain or ongoing payments as a separate scenario.
Prevent double counting
Ask whether the installer price already includes a rebate or assigned incentive. The same benefit must not appear once as a discount and again as future income.
