A credible New Zealand battery quote uses your solar exports, evening demand, retail rate and retailer buy-back rate. It should not assume a national battery rebate or daily full cycles without evidence.
Start with the household, not the battery
The useful capacity is limited by the solar available to charge it and the electricity used after generation falls. A larger battery is not automatically a better investment.
- Average daily solar exports
- Evening and overnight demand
- Retail usage rate
- Solar buy-back rate
- Usable capacity and inverter output
- Final installed price
Check what the price includes
Confirm whether switchboard work, metering, backup circuits, monitoring, approvals and commissioning are included. A cheap hardware headline can become an expensive installed system after exclusions.
Do not assume a subsidy
The base New Zealand X-ray applies no national battery rebate. If a local offer or retailer credit exists, enter only the price you genuinely pay and keep the incentive evidence with the quote.
